Aquestes fotografies parteixen d’una contradicció: la fascinació per un territori d’una enorme bellesa natural i, al mateix temps, la consciència de la seua fragilitat. Darrere de la idea de paradís conviuen també la destrucció ambiental, la pèrdua de memòria i identitat i la transformació dels llocs en consum. Les Illes Canàries fa anys que viuen les conseqüències de la turistificació i l’explotació del territori. Davant d’això, intente mirar sense consumir, observar sense convertir el paisatge en una postal més.

Mirar un lloc també hauria d’implicar respectar-lo.

Estas fotografías parten de una contradicción: la fascinación por un territorio de una enorme belleza natural y, al mismo tiempo, la conciencia de su fragilidad. Detrás de la idea de paraíso conviven también la destrucción ambiental, la pérdida de memoria e identidad y la transformación de los sitios en consumo. Las Islas Canarias llevan años viviendo las consecuencias de la turistificación y explotación del territorio. Ante esto, intente mirar sin consumir, observar sin convertir el paisaje en una postal más.

Mirar un sitio también debería implicar respetarlo.

These photographs arise from a contradiction: the fascination with a territory of immense natural beauty and, at the same time, the awareness of its fragility. Behind the idea of paradise also coexist environmental destruction, the loss of memory and identity, and the transformation of places into objects of consumption. The Canary Islands have spent years suffering the consequences of touristification and the exploitation of the territory. In response to this, I tried to look without consuming, to observe without turning the landscape into just another postcard.

Looking at a place should also imply respecting it.

تنطلق هذه الصور من تناقضٍ واضح: الانبهار بأرضٍ ذات جمال طبيعي هائل، وفي الوقت نفسه، الوعي بهشاشتها. فخلف فكرة «الفردوس» تتعايش أيضاً مظاهر الدمار البيئي، وفقدان الذاكرة والهوية، وتحويل الأماكن إلى مجرد سلع للاستهلاك. تعيش جزر الكناري منذ سنوات تبعات السياحة المفرطة واستغلال الأراضي. وأمام ذلك، حاولتُ أن أنظر دون أن أستهلك، وأن أراقب دون أن أحوّل المشهد الطبيعي إلى بطاقةٍ بريدية أخرى.

النظر إلى مكانٍ ما يجب أن يعني أيضاً احترامه.
